Tencent is Restoring Order in Companies’ News, Gaming and Social Media Platforms

Life without technology is unthinkable. There are so many different types of technological devices and services almost every individual avails today. Starting from smartphones to social media, we live in an era of technology. These technological devices and services have made life easy, and there are so many things to do to get through the day comfortably. However, these devices and services are susceptible to fraudulent activities.

These counterfeit activities have infiltrated in different aspects of life, and it is a major threat to humanity. As a matter of fact, with the rise of technology and its usage, there is also a parallel rise of disorder and fraud activities. The widespread of fake news and information on various platforms have led to severe panic and demoralizing effect on the users. Not just that, China gaming addiction is linked with various diseases and health concerns and the marketing of adult WeChat content is very disturbing for human society.

 

Measures Taken By Tencent –

Tencent is one of the top three tech companies in China. It is the biggest gaming company in the world. Tencent’s WeChat is the most popular social media app in China, and it is installed in almost everyone’s smartphone. Besides, it also provides services in the new industry and various other sectors. Therefore, the company is responsible for maintaining proper order in all its digital services so that fake WeChat content and counterfeit information do not spread. The following is the list of the steps taken by Tencent to curb the undesirable uses of its services.
Tencent Fake News Debunkers – There are loads of fake news and content on WeChat which go viral and create mass panic and confusion. To debunk and remove such fake news, there are over 300M Tencent fake news debunkers in WeChat. Besides, it has partnered with over 774 third-party organizations to debunk news, and some of them are from the police department, food, and drug departments.

Tencent Games Anti-Addiction System – The addiction of games among the youths in China is extremely high. It is affecting their study time as well as the vision of their eyes. Therefore, under the pressure of the Government, Tencent has taken certain measures for China gaming addiction. They have expanded their anti-addiction system for as many as 31 popular games including the most popular games PUBG and Honour of Kings. Tencent has also implied that the system will be implemented in all of their games in the near future.

The anti-addiction system works by limiting gaming time. For children below 12 years, the gaming time is limited to one hour. For the rest, the gaming time limit is two hours. Moreover, Tencent notifies the parents when their children spend over RMB 500 a month. Not just that, the users have to do real-name verification to open an account and play games. This way no one can open a fake account and take the disadvantage of the system.

 

 

Account Suspension – Tencent has been very strict in handling the accounts violation of the rules and regulations they have put on the platforms and services. Hundreds and thousands of accounts have been suspended or completely removed for spreading fake news and information, posting vulgar content, promoting gambling and likewise. Even thousands of gaming accounts have been suspended for breaking the anti-addiction system and regulations.

Conclusion –
It is safe to say that the leading Chinese tech company is not afraid of taking strict steps to make their platforms authentic and user-friendly. They care for their users and ready to take any action for the betterment such that the users do not become a slave of technology. The company has also promised regular updates to its measures to curb all undesirable uses of their products and services.
